Jacqueline Bynum, Project Associate for the Center
Jacqueline is an Associate Project Manager at Stryker. Her general area of focus is Mergers & Acquisitions, with specific expertise in purchasing, planning, and strategies for new product launches. She is also a Committee Lead for the Stryker Women’s Network.
Jacqueline loves to travel, and is a voracious reader and viewer of podcasts. She currently lives in Amsterdam with her husband. Having just welcomed their first child into the world, they are joyfully embracing both sleep deprivation and the loving support of their family, friends, and community.
Stephanie Castillo, Project Associate for the Center
Stephanie is a federal contractor for NASA’s Ames Research Center where she works as a Public Engagement Specialist and Web Content Developer as part of the Strategic Communications team for NASA Academic Mission Services (NAMS).
Stephanie earned her B.A. in International Studies from Saint Mary’s College of California in Moraga and is currently pursuing a Web Development Certificate from the University of California at Davis.
Stephanie is passionate about travel and fashion and is a social media influencer with a growing community of over 80,000 followers.
Alexa Gambero, Project Associate for the Center
Alexa grew up in Fresno, California and currently lives in the San Francisco Bay Area. She earned her BA in Communication Studies and English from Saint Mary’s College of California, where she completed a senior capstone project focused on social media and its use as a surveillance mechanism. In addition to her studies, Alexa was Editor-in-Chief of the SMC student newspaper, The Collegian, and a founding member of the College’s chapter of Spoon University.
As an undergraduate, Alexa completed over 250 hours of service at local nonprofit organizations. After graduation, she joined the AmeriCorps VISTA program in partnership with SMC’s Catholic Institute for LaSallian Social Action. During her year of full-time service, Alexa was stationed at an East Bay food pantry and family resource center where she participated in community outreach events, increased food-related resources for her clients, and mentored students in grant writing.
Alexa is now Program Coordinator at the East Bay food pantry she served for a year as a VISTA volunteer. She continues her work toward eradicating poverty by ensuring that low-income individuals and families have access to the safety net services provided by the pantry. When she’s not working, Alexa enjoys cooking and reading and hopes to adopt a dog in the near future.
Elizandra Obando-Sehrai, Project Associate for the Center
Born in Costa Rica, Elizandra spent the first part of her life there and in Nicaragua. Arriving in the U.S. when she was twelve, she went on to represent College Park High School as a cross country competitor. She continued her athletic career with Saint Mary’s College of California, where she graduated with a B.A. in Communication Studies and Creative Writing.
While finishing her undergraduate work at SMC, Elizandra was honored to travel to Peru and the Dominican Republic to provide education, sports leadership training, and basic needs to underprivileged youth in service of Here for Kids. Among a variety of other volunteer activities, Elizandra was a member of the Rotaract club that constructed water purification kits for folks in Haiti after the 2010 earthquake.
Currently, Elizandra is Human Resources Coordinator for Enterprise Holdings. When she has it, she enjoys spending her spare time with family, and especially loves running, traveling, and hiking with her husband and friends. In between everything else, Eli steals a little quality time with her cat, Kitu.
